Colonel Fortuné received his commission as a Quartermaster Officer in the ROTC program at Xavier University. He served in numerous leadership and staff positions, among them as the aide-de-camp to the CG, 200th Theater Army Materiel Management Center.  He commanded Delta Company (Heavy Maintenance), 702^nd Main Support Battalion, 2nd ID in Korea, served in 24^th Infantry Division Support Command, Fort Stewart, and as the Division Readiness Officer, Brigade S-4, and Executive Officer for the 224^th Forward Support Battalion. He deployed as Logistics Officer in support of a Mechanized Task Force for OPERATION UPHOLD/RESTORE DEMOCRACY.  

He commanded the 49^th Special Troops Battalion, 49^th Quartermaster Group (Petroleum and Water), Fort Lee and the Combat Equipment Battalion – Kuwait, Camp Doha, Kuwait. He served as the Chief, Operations Branch, G-4, 3rd United States Army Headquarters, Fort McPherson, Georgia and Chief of Operations for the C4, Coalition Forces Land Component Command, Camp Doha, Kuwait during OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM AND OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.  He commanded the 23^rd Quartermaster Brigade.  He attended the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Air War College.  

Colonel Fortuné’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters.
