Colonel Edwin Buffington’s key assignments include: Headquarters Commandant/Joint Element Commander, United States European Command, Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany; Division Chief, Programs, Policies and Initiatives, J-4, Logistics, U.S. European Command; Assistant Chief of Staff, G-4 (Logistics), XVII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg; Deputy Commander, 1st Corps Support Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg; Commander, 45th Corps Support Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg; Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G-4, 82nd Airborne Division; and Commander, 101st Forward Support Battalion, First Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. During his time as the G-4, 82nd Airborne Division he was the principle staff planner in developing logistics support for the 1989 assault into Panama; and for Operation Golden Pheasant in Honduras (1988). As the Commander of the 101st Forward Support Battalion, he deployed in support of Desert Shield/Storm supporting the initial ground assault into Iraq.
