Brigadier General James Kennon was drafted into the Army as a Private in August 1969 from the Bronx, New York. He retired in 2006 with over 37 years of enlisted, warrant officer, and commissioned officer service. Brigadier General Kennon attended Army Officer Candidate School (OCS) in September 1977, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Fort Benning OCS in February 1978. While in Korea, he served as Support Operations Officer and Executive Officer for the 227th Maintenance Battalion. Brigadier General Kennon was later assigned as a small group leader at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for post command Captains. His key command assignments were: 264th Corps Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 45th Corps Support Group, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; and US Army Soldier Support Center, Natick, Massachusetts. His significant staff assignments were: Chief, Quartermaster Officer assignments, Human Resources Command; Chief of Staff, CASCOM, Fort Lee, Virginia; J4, US Pacific Command; and Deputy Chief of Staff, Army Air Force Exchange Service, Dallas, Texas. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science from Chaminade University of Honolulu; a Master of Science Degree in Management from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Manage- ment from the National Defense University.
