The Quartermaster Hall of Fame award is the highest form of recognition the Corps offers. This much coveted award honors individuals who are judged to have made the most significant contributions to the overall history and traditions of the Quartermaster Corps.

Command Sergeant Major Sean J. Rice is a respected and successful career Army Logistician with 34+ years of experience; known for delivering results, building cohesive teams and bringing excellence to every organization he’s been fortunate to lead. Command Sergeant Major Sean J. Rice hails from Ft. Leavenworth, KS, and enlisted in the United States Army 8 July 1988. He received his Basic and Advanced Individual training at Fort Jackson, SC where he earned the MOS 76Y, Unit Supply Specialist. He’s held numerous assignments as a logistician from Supply Specialist, various Battalion S-4 positions and locations; Drill Sergeant, Ft. Benning; First Sergent positions at Schofield Barracks & Special Operations Command – Pacific, Hawaii;  Operations Sergeant Major, Ft. Bragg; Command Sergeant Major, US Army – Europe; 916th Sustainment Brigade Command Sergeant Major, National Training Center; CDID Senior Enlisted Advisor, Combined Arms Services Command, Ft. Lee, VA; 13th Quartermaster Regimental CSM, Ft. Lee, VA (now Ft. Gregg-Adams); 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Fort Bragg, NC (Now Ft. Liberty); and the United States Army Security Assistance Command Command Sergeant Major, Redstone Arsenal, AL where he and his family culminated their time in service.

Command Sergeant Major Rice’s career experience was that of continuous operational assignments and deployments to combat zones in support of forces in contact, mostly executing theater logistics, distribution, and supply chain management.  During his tenure, he supported the force build up and draw-down in Iraq from 2007-2010 and the surge and subsequent draw-down of Afghanistan Forces in 2013, and various humanitarian support missions ranging from Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana to the COVID-19 National Pandemic Response in New York City. 

Since 2014, Command Sergeant Major spent his years in staff and command positions where he was able to lead large global organizations, build strategic plans through consensus and connection with the workforce, and secure the resources and authorities required for growth, expansion, and excellence. Through this Command Sergeant Major Rice has been awarded various awards and decorations that include the German Physical Proficiency Badge, Thailand Foreign Parachutist Badge, Polish Foreign Parachutist Badge, the Prestigious Order’s of Saint Martin (QM), Saint Maurice (INF), and is an active member and advocate of the Prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

Command Sergeant Major Rice earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Troy University, Alabama and a Master’s in Information Technology Management from Trident University International, CA. He also earned the Theater Logistics Planners Course Certification from the U.S. Army Logistics University, Fort Lee VA, and the DoD Security Cooperation Workforce Development Certification from the Defense Security Cooperation University. Command Sergeant Major Rice finished his career married to the former Ms. Vanessa Michelle Leonard for 24 years and they have three daughters and two grand-daughters.
