In January 2022 The Army Quartermaster Foundation lost a great Quartermaster, our beloved President-Emeritus COL Bob Barrett. Bob distinguished himself as a Regular Army Quartermaster for thirty years followed by continued service to the Nation as a Department of the Army Contractor and finally as a Volunteer Soldier for Life participating in and leading a variety of civic and charitable organizations.
Elected to the AQF Board of Directors in 1992, he served continuously for the next 30 years including five years as Vice-President and ten as President. Chief among his many accomplishments and contributions were fund-raising and oversight of construction for two additions to the Quartermaster Museum and implementation of an widely applauded Education Outreach Program.
Bob was a member of the Army Quartermaster Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Ancient Order of Saint Martin, one of only 22 Quartermasters to receive the award since its inception. At the time of his death, he was still an active director holding the title of President-Emeritus.
